Project Overview
People with language barriers, including those with English accents, are known to face more difficult during the job hunt process.

These barriers are especially strong for verbal communication during the job application process, which leave room for discrimination based on English accent.

This survey-based study explores how varying English accents and job pitch modality (written vs verbal) affect the likelihood of hiring by employers.
My Contributions
Executed recruitment strategies to secure a diverse group of 41 undergraduate participants aged 18-22 from Washington University in St. Louis. Assisted in sourcing and testing 6 job pitches, conducting a pilot with 11 students to ensure appropriateness and minimize bias.

Designed and implemented the survey using Qualtrics, incorporating measures like gender-neutral names, location-based variations, and diverse stimuli formats to mitigate bias. Implemented counterbalancing and manipulation checks to uphold methodological rigor.
